Amazing Cities in the World -Dubai
This article describes briefly the culture, history, landmarks, attractions, and travel tips for the city of Dubai
Is Dubai a Country?
The United Arab Emirates, a country you may not be familiar with, but Dubai the most spectacular city in the desert is so well-known throughout the world for its impressive blend of made-up heights and sandy landscape. Are you familiar with the question, Is Dubai a country? Let me explain a bit
The UAE is a nation mostly made up of deserts, like all the GCC countries in the middle east. the weather is hot and humid, Temperatures usually reach 50 to 60 degrees at the top for three to four months a year, other extreme weather conditions for three to six months. Yet, despite this, how is UAE a favourite destination for tourists?
How Dubai was built, a brief history
Ancestors of the UAE used to live by trade, pottery, fishing, and pearl business before oil was discovered recently in the 1960s.
Oil was discovered in the UAE in 1966, and exports began in 1969, marking an important turning point in the nation’s history. Economically and technologically, the UAE has grown rapidly with the introduction of the currency riyal, joining Qatar and the gulf rupee, joining India.
Britain left the United Arab Emirates in 1971, and the country became independent on December 2, 1971. Later, the currency dirham was introduced in the country, enjoining the major independent states such as Abu Dhabi and Dubai, as well as emirates including Sharjah, Ajman, and Umm Al Quwain.
A major step towards Dubai’s long journey was made in 1984 with the introduction of Emirates Airlines, which in fact is now one of the world’s largest airlines (A380).
Why Dubai is famous?
UAE is a federation of seven independent states with a federal constitutional monarchy, similar to the United Kingdom, Japan, or Thailand.
Even though UAE declared independence lately in 1971 it became progressive much faster than any other country in the middle east. The vision of the leaders of Uae is notable and appreciative in this regard.
In terms of the capital of the UAE, Abudhabi, which has abundant oil reserves, makes it a major exporter and economically stable state in the nation.
In mid-2000, Dubai began its rise to popularity among tourists. Prior to the 1990s, Dubai was known for its trade-based ease and tax-exempt status, which made it very easy for traders to do business, exchange goods, import and export, and do business themselves.
Due to this, Dubai’s real estate and structural, architectural, and infrastructure has changed over time, making it more popular among tourists with its superb marketing efforts and well-implemented businesses.
Where Dubai is located ?
Dubai is located in the persian gulf coast of United Arab Emirates , which is Asia continent and in the middle east region.Dubai located in the country United Arab Emirates , yes, Dubai which people often mistakenly considered as a country is located in UAE.
Why Dubai is so rich?
Unlike other states, oil accounts for a relatively small percentage of Dubai’s GDP. Still, the country’s majority of wealth is derived from foreign trade, real estate, and luxury tourism. Implementing free zones, seaports that serve as a major hub for connecting trade between many international zones, particularly east and west, Iran being the nearest, tremendous logistics capability in the ports covering a large area and highly sophisticated tools and technologies, resulted in a significant economic boom in the city all around. Also, the huge number of expatriates from Asian countries contributes greatly to the economic well-being of the business
Dubai is home to skyscrapers, high-end shopping malls, restaurants, beaches, and tourist attractions which made people visit, search for opportunities and enjoy the vacations.
Are Dubai people Arab ?
The state Dubai in United Arab Emirates have a diverse culture .Maybe it is the only city which has visitors or residents from around 180 countries .The culture of Dubai is basically Arab because its an Arab country in the middle east. But the nationality only serve 10% of the total population , that means 90 % are expats who are working or came as tourists which bring one of the most unique traditions and peoples in the city
Can Dubai make it Rain?
Uae introduced a technology to make artificial rain through cloud seeding in the 90’s.The process is to pump water attracting salt flares from aircraft into warm clouds .Its a very useful techniquefor rain in the region due to the hot weather and getting rain water in some of the dry areas even though the process is very expensive .
Milestones in Dubai
Dubai began to gain popularity when the Dubai Shopping Festival Show began in 1996, followed by horse racing and the opening of the world’s most expensive hotel the Burj Al Arab, launched in 1999.
The Dubai financial market was opened in 2000, along with the opening of new cities like internet city and media city supporting technologies in 2001.
